I'm doing this again

Because I actually did get a lot done the last time.
And Nanowrimo is about to start (I'm Teffie, add me).
And I'm insane.
So, join me, on SATURDAY NOVEMBER 5.

East Coast Start Time: 8AM

West Coast Start Time: 5AM.

Anyone who actually finishes their Nano project during the write-a-thon gets a prize.  It might not be a good prize, because I'm unemployed, but I'll pick it out when I'm delirious with sleep deprivation so it is sure to make you laugh.

And if you can't do the whole thing, drop by.  I'm going to set up some stuff to keep myself entertained once again.

Hour Twenty-Fourb: Autopost

WE DID IT!!  I think we did it!

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:

The Question: Any suggestions for the next time we do this?
PS- Early November to kick of Nanowrimo (I'm fakesteph.  Add me!)!

Hour Twenty-FourA: Autopost

This is the final hour!!!!  We can do it.  We WILL DO IT!

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:
Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
Scott Adams
The Question: What was the hardest hour of the writeathon so far?

Hour Twenty-Three: Autopost

The quote down there is actually sold as a decal.  I really want to buy it and put it up so that it is the first thing I see every morning.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:

“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." Christopher Robin to Pooh

A.A. Milne

The Question: Have you met any of your goals so far?

Hour Twenty-Two: Autopost

We're getting into the final stretch.  These next few hours are going to be the hardest.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:
Don't part with your illusions. When they are gone, you may still exist, but you have ceased to live.
Mark Twain

The Question:  How's your sanity at the moment?

Hour Twenty-One: Autopost

I'm going to burn myself out before the writeathon even starts trying to come up with (not so) clever things to say.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:

The Question: What are you working on right now?

Hour Twenty: Autopost

These last few posts are probably going to be the weirdest of all because I know I'm going to need a little bit of crazy to keep me awake.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: A guilty conscience needs to confess. A work of art is a confession.
Albert Camus
The Question: You're totally going to do this again, right?

Hour Nineteen: Autopost

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:
“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”
― J.K. RowlingHarry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
The Question: How much time did you spend on breaks?

Hour Eighteen: Autopost

One more hour and we are officially two-thirds of the way through this! Prepared to be epicly tired.

Something funny: Is this how you feel?

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:

A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.
    William Shakespeare
(We are fools for doing this, so therefore we are wise... at least I am.  You might still think this is a good idea.)

The Question:  How does music affect your writing?  Your life?

Hour Seventeen

This is the song I'm currently addicted to.  Finally. This hour I'm going to listen to this song for 4o minutes, make a cup of tea, go to the bathroom, and then write another paragraph.  But that is just my 3am prediction two days before.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:

The Question: Did you prepare snacks?  Seriously, did you?

Hour Sixteen: Autopost

Oh man!!!!  We're really doing this.  Now's when it gets hard.  Go take a shower and wake up.

Something funny:

The Music:  Unfortunately the official video has embedding blocked.  Lame.

A quote that Inspires Steph:
“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
― Ernest Hemingway

The Question: This is the most important question of the night... how do you take your caffeine?  Coffee?  Tea?  Energy Drink?  IV drip?

Hour Fifteen: Autopost

Depending on where you're located, you should probably start feeling tired any time now.... I mean, you are awake.  WIDE AWAKE!!  Watch this funny video.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:
“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.”
― Dr. Seuss

The Question: Forgive me if I've asked this already, but my blog editor crashed and I can't remember which questions were for the last batch of posts I wrote or for these new ones.  BUT.... Are you working on one project or switching between ideas?

Sunday, October 9, 2011

Hour Fourteen: Autopost

It's 3am when I'm writing this... even though it is two days in advance... I'm running out of encouragement.  Just laugh at whatever I find to stick below.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:
“It starts with this: put your desk in the corner, and every time you sit down there to write, remind yourself why it isn't in the middle of the room. Life isn't a support system for art. It's the other way around.”
― Stephen KingOn Writing

The Question:  Do you like noise when you write or complete silence?  Or do you procrastinate no matter what the circumstances?

Hour Thirteen: Autopost

Officially halfway there!  Let's celebrate and then get back to writing.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: "Not knowing you can't do something is sometimes all it takes to do it." Ally Carter

The Question: Did you pace yourself so you could last all night?  Or did you try to do most of your work when you knew you would be (reasonably) well rested?

Hour Twelve: Autopost

At the end of this hour we reach the half way point.  I can't believe it's almost here, but at the same time am overwhelmed at the prospect of twelve more hours.  Keep going.  Nobody wants to be shamed on the internet.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph:

The Question: Do you have a gameplan for how to stay awake?  (You should.)  What is it?

Hour Eleven: Autopost

We're doing awesome.  I think.  I hope.  We better be, because if we can't handle it right now, we're going to have a really hard time with Hour 18 or so.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: “She will not be simple and sweet.
She will not be what people tell her she should be.”
― E. LockhartThe Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks

The Question: Have you been working on one project or switching between different ideas?

Hour Ten: Autopost

Three more hours till we're at the halfway point.  I can't believe I've actually agreed to this.  DON'T STOP!

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: “You gotta take chances in this life or you're already
dead.”
― Megan McCaffertySecond Helpings
This is another writer I could happily quote forever.
The Question: Did you prepare snacks?  Seriously, did you?

Hour Nine: Autopost

I'm so curious about how I'm doing right now.  Part of me is hoping I'm blowing through my screenplay, but most of me expects that I will already be tired and on my second pot of coffee.  We. Shall. See.  We. Shall. Write.

Something funny:
Everything is funnier on tumblr.

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: “I'm not saying that everything is survivable. Just that everything except the last thing is.”
― John GreenPaper Towns
Okay, I know there's a lot of John Green here.  He inspires me.  Deal with it.
The Question: What is your favorite writing resource (book, blog, professor, friend...)?

Hour Eight: Autopost

Okay, I'm cheating a little, but music is what inspires me.  I'm guessing I need some energy right now.  Go make some coffee.

Something funny:  I love this song, but this video is hilarious.

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph (This one still gives me chills every time I read it!): “Full circle. A new terror born in death, a new superstition entering the unassailable fortress of forever. I am legend.”
― Richard MathesonI Am Legend

The Question: What is the first story you remember writing?  Why did you write it?

Hour Seven: Autopost

And we just passed the quarter mark.  I wonder how fast it went by.  Writing can be exhausting, so I will probably cry laughing at the below image, because I am probably already exhausted.  Eighteen  more hours to go!

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: “Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
― George Bernard Shaw
The Question:  What is your favorite place to write?

Hour Six: Autopost

I expect to be finishing my first pot of coffee about now... we shall see.  Keep writing!

Something funny: Old, but still great.

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead
-Louisa May Alcott

The Question: What question does your current project answer?

Hour Five: Autopost

Nothing like 80s chick rock to keep the adrenaline going.  The music is going to get weirder as the day progresses.  Hopefully I anticipate my weirdness level correctly.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: "No one knows me, so no one knows what to expect. I can have whatever past I want; I can forget how I used to be... Before, I had nothing.... I had nothing, and nothing to lose, and then I knew loss. What I cared about was gone; it was all lost. Now I have everything to gain; everything is clean slate. It's all blank pages waiting to be written on." --As Simple As Snow, Gregory Galloway

The Question: What writers or artists inspire you?

Hour Four: Autopost

This song came out when I was 14 or 15.  I still know every word.  It reminds me how important the past is in shaping who I am today.

Something funny: Embedding is disabled, but this is worth it.

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: "I'm not going to be one of those people who sits around talking about what they're gonna do. I'm just going to do it. Imagining the future is a kind of nostalgia."
-Alaska Young in Looking for Alaska by John Green

The Question: How has your past shaped your writing?

Hour Three: Autopost

Hour Three... It's still early and probably a little quiet, so let's liven it up.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: “One great use of words is to hide our thoughts.” Voltaire (1694-1778)

The Question: Now that you've had two hours to work, how realistic are the goals you set in hour one?

Hour Two: Autopost

Hour Two, we're just beginning.  I have no expectations for how much I accomplished in hour one.

Something funny:

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: "Art is never finished, only abandoned." Leonardo da Vinci

The Question: How many hours do you think you'll make it?

Hour One - Autopost

We're totally doing this.  24 hours of writing...

I am the kind of chick that needs structure when attempting things like this, so I'm setting up hourly posts to inspire and encourage and keep us awake.  I expect to be so tired by the end that I won't remember what I have put in these posts.  I totally quit the last readathon at 23 hours last time and I am for sure the tortoise not the hare, so this will be an... interesting experiment!

We're totally going to do this!

Something funny.

The Music:

A quote that Inspires Steph: No one will forget me.  Not my look, not my name.  Katniss. The girl who was on fire. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Question: What are your goals for the write-a-thon?

Thursday, October 6, 2011

This will probably kill me

So, I have committed to writing for 24 hours straight.  You are invited.  Come participate or just drop by to see the slow deterioration of my sanity (which was never that stable to begin with).
